Our
holiday home in the South of France is in the heart of Cote du
Rhone country, close to the historic cities of Avignon, Nimes,
Orange
and Uzes,
in the historic and beautiful Department du Gard.
Built on a hillside, the villa has panoramic views over the beautiful
valley of the river Ceze, which runs close by at the end of our
lane. The property sits amongst gorgeous vineyards and lavender
fields,
and
pine and oak forests, with barely
another house within sight.
Unlike
some holiday homes in the south of France, ours is
completely private, with 4,000 square metres of terraced garden,
fruit trees and forest rising up
the Serre de Toupian hillside behind the house.
Palms, olive trees,
wisteria, roses, oleander
and vines as well as sage, thyme and rosemary all grow abundantly
in the area.
|
There
is a large patio with shade for eating alfresco, two stretches
of lawn, and a private jasmine-covered pergola for relaxation.
Haut
Toupian sleeps nine people comfortably, on three floors. It is
fully equipped and luxuriously furnished.
The
large L shaped pool has steps leading into the shallow end; it
is at a safe distance from the house, and has a grassy
surround with loungers and shade.
You'll
find that there are excellent walks from the holiday home in all
directions - through the gorgeous vineyards and woods of southern
France.

Our
holiday home is located in the local village of Goudargues – one
of the most beautiful in the south France. It lies only two
kilometres away, with six restaurants, a supermarket, two bakers
and an excellent
butcher,
as well as a
market every Wednesday.
Goudargues is crisscrossed by small canals,
and the centre of the village is dominated by a magnificent medieval
church.
Only
minutes from our holiday home, you'll find
tennis courts for rent, and canoeing on the Ceze (a popular activity
in the south of France). You'll also find a riding centre
nearby where horses can be hired by the
hour or the day.

| The river running through Goudargues |
There are at least four excellent wine producers within two
miles of Goudargues.
The bars lining the canal are one of the loveliest features of
Goudargues – nothing beats a leisurely drink as the sun sinks
and the heat of the day dissipates.
